There are many reasons why cats may experience problems with hair loss. Relatively rare to make it happen because due to feline endocrine alopecia. Vets don't know exactly why this rare skin condition occurs.

When developed though, your cat hair starts thinning. Several areas of the body are affected by hair loss. You may notice that these areas appear to be the same on both sides of the body. Two areas that are most commonly affected include the hind legs and the abdominal region.

Certain other medical conditions can mimic symptoms caused by feline endocrine alopecia. To see if your cat is really suffering from this condition, the veterinarian will need to rule out other possible causes of hair loss first. Parasites and diseases such as ringworm can cause similar symptoms.

In order to make a diagnosis of endocrine alopecia in cats, veterinarians usually look at a sample of hair under a microscope. Doing so can help determine at what stage of growth of hair broke. Of skin around the area also can help determine what is causing the loss of hair on your cat. Fungi like ringworm infections can cause symptoms.

It can also be a sign of blood in order if your veterinarian suspects feline endocrine alopecia to be the problem. Sample not be proved however in the office. A laboratory must be inspected to see how hormones endocrine system is working.

As mentioned previously, vets do not know why it develops endocrine alopecia cat. Hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, or thyroid hormone are some of the main suspects. Cats with the condition should begin a regimen of hormonal therapy to deal with it.

Cats that they are eating foods that are allergic to can experience spontaneous hair loss. Therefore, you need to start your cat in a food test to see if it helps to relieve symptoms. You will need to start feeding your cat a different type of food.

Feline endocrine alopecia is sometimes treated with medications that are designed to grow the hair back. This is not always the preferred method of treatment in cats however. These drugs can cause serious side effects in some cats. They can be toxic to the liver over time and also cause heart problems.

Cats can develop even other conditions such as diabetes mellitus after taking these medications. Some even experience changes in their behavior.
